Yes. Like all other martial arts, it is not perfect, however daily training does provide skills to keep oneself safe. The two biggest skills most gain is a better sense of awareness we call “martial awareness” and the ability to stay calm in a crisis.

All these martial arts are great. The most significant difference is culture and mindset. When looking for a martial art, you should look for the following: Does the art match your philosophy in life? Do its goals strive for what you want? Also, do you connect with the teacher? Does the teacher bring out your best self?

Self-defense: Aikido is known for being a defensive martial art
Discipline and self-improvement: This helps with focus, problem-solving, and family life.
Exercise: It’s a unique way to work out the whole body. If a gym is not very engaging for you, aikido often is a great way to move the mind and the body together.
